This policy explains what information Lux Painting Solutions Ltd. ("Lux", "we", "us") collects through luxpaintingsolutions.com, why we collect it, who helps us handle it, and the choices you have. We are a small business based in Calgary, Alberta, and we handle personal information in line with Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) and, where it applies, Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

In short: we use what you send us to prepare your quote and talk to you about your project. We don't sell your information. The website uses the Meta Pixel to measure our Facebook and Instagram advertising.

What we collect

Information you give us. When you use a quote form on this site we receive:

your name and the phone number or email address you enter;
the description of your project, and any answers you choose in the estimate tools;
photos you attach (optional);
which section of the site you sent the form from.

If you contact us by phone, email, Instagram or Facebook instead, we receive whatever you choose to share in that conversation.

Information collected automatically. Like most websites, our hosting provider records basic technical data such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested, for security and to keep the site running. The Meta Pixel (described below) also collects information about your visit.

How we use it

to review your project and prepare a price or estimate;
to contact you about your request, schedule a visit and carry out the work if you hire us;
to keep a record of enquiries and jobs for our business, warranty and accounting purposes;
to understand how well our advertising works and to show our ads to people likely to be interested.

We only use your information for these purposes. We will not add you to a mailing list or send you marketing without asking first.

Advertising and the Meta Pixel

This site uses the Meta Pixel, a tool provided by Meta Platforms, Inc. (the company behind Facebook and Instagram). It uses cookies and similar technology to record that you visited the site, which pages you viewed, and whether you sent a quote request. It does not send us, or Meta, the text of your form. We use this to measure the results of our ads and to show relevant ads to people who have visited our site.

You can control this in several ways: adjust your ad preferences in your Facebook or Instagram settings, block or delete cookies in your browser, or use a browser or extension that blocks tracking. The site and the quote form work normally either way. Meta's own use of this data is covered by Meta's Privacy Policy.

Who helps us handle your information

We use a small number of trusted service providers to run the website and our business. They process information for us and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes:

Netlify — hosts this website and receives form submissions;
Google (Gmail) — delivers form submissions to our business email;
Telegram — delivers new requests and attached photos to our team's phones;
Notion — where we keep our list of enquiries and jobs;
Meta — the Meta Pixel described above, and conversations if you message us on Facebook or Instagram.

Some of these providers store data on servers outside Canada, mainly in the United States. While it is there, your information may be subject to the laws of that country, including lawful access by its authorities. If you have questions about how these providers handle information, contact us using the details below.

We may also share information with a trade partner we bring onto your job (for example, a countertop supplier who needs to measure your kitchen), and only what they need for that part of the work. We will disclose information if the law requires it. We do not sell or rent personal information to anyone.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiry details for as long as we need them to respond and to follow up on your project. If you become a client, we keep job records for as long as needed for the warranty on our work and for tax and accounting requirements. After that, we delete the information or keep it only in a form that no longer identifies you.

How we protect it

Access to your information is limited to the people at Lux who need it to handle your project. We use reputable providers with their own security measures, and the site is served over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect what you share with us.

Your choices and rights

You can ask us to:

tell you what personal information we hold about you and how it has been used;
correct information that is wrong or incomplete;
delete your information, or stop contacting you, where we are not required to keep it.

You can also withdraw your consent to our use of your information at any time, subject to legal or contractual limits; if you do, we may not be able to prepare a quote or complete work for you. We will respond to requests within the time the law allows. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta.

Children

This site is intended for homeowners and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle personal information, we will update this page and the date at the top.
